Synopsis

The Legion of Super-Heroes began as the dream of R.J. Brande. Inspired by 21st Century heroes like the Justice League, he created a team of young heroes made up of every race in the United Planets. They grew to become legends in their own right, as champions of the 31st Century, and the Legion’s ranks grew as a result. Despite having started with that dream – that dream ends as a nightmare, now, torn apart by Infinitus.

The Infinity Wraiths have reached Earth, and the Legion is struggling to evacuate Metropolis and other Earth-cities, and to save the innocents trapped there. Some among them worry that the Earth will soon be lost to Infinitus, and their best bet is to go back in time to join their companions in the effort to prevent this from ever happening. Frustrated, Cosmic Boy warns that they were ordered by Brainiac 5 to remain behind and act as Earth’s last line of defence should his team fail. However, it is Dream Girl who is in charge in Brainiac 5’s absence, and decides that Infinitus’ impending arrival warrants their escape to the Time Institute and journey to the past.

Meanwhile, in the 21st Century, the Justice League United has joined with the Legionnaires to stop Byth Rok from entering a rift in time and space that will turn Ultra into Infinitus. Fortunately, they receive aid from the new-coming members of the Legion. Martian Manhunter, meanwhile, is maintaining a telepathic link with Ultra, fighting with Byth for influence over the child’s fate. Unfortunately, Ultra has decided for himself that he must see what lies on the other side of the rift. Seeing J’onn failing, Supergirl attempts a more direct approach, speeding after Byth’s ship.

As Kara passes through the rift, Brainiac 5 and Sardath realize that her efforts have caused the rift to collapse on itself, and shrink.
